The Laaz (Lah-z) basin is a water trap that's constantly refreshed by water that flows in and out from rivers. On a small island in the middle of the basin is a castle. One that has no one currently living in it, at the side are a couple of small houses and a fishing and boating shop.
Here you can buy a small boat and some fishing tackle and go off in to the basin, see what you can fish.
There's rumors that a large water dwelling fish 'The mother of all fishes' lives in the basin. Of course that could just be a lot of garbage that the boating shop man uses to get people to buy fishing gear and boats.
The area is a very peaceful place and it's a good place for relaxation along with camping out, so if people have to camp out or can't find a place to stay this would be their best bet for a hassle free time.
The Laaz Basin is also home to a tall white library off the southern most edge of the lake, it is said that around 50% of Oephus' information on dark magic can be found here along with the Mau-Lao.
