Lake Awik (Ah-wick) although peaceful there's something odd about the area, whether it's the Aether from the lake or the story surrounding it, the place has a rather somber tone. The few houses that litter the edges of the lake are all abandoned. Empty.
As the story goes, there was once a large village here, right in the center of the lake but people were mining beneath it for treasures untold. They however mined too far towards the edges of the island that the village sat upon. When a small earth quake hit many years later, the whole village sank to the bottom of the lake. A few hundred people went down with it, men, women, children. Their greed had gotten the better of them and though it is tragic, it is a story people can learn from.
The Lake is also called 'Cursed Lake Awik' people are warned not to sail on it for those who have and have actually made it to the other side have had tragedy befall them a few weeks later. At least, that's what the superstitious say.
Others say that the place is cursed because ghosts linger here, the souls of those who weren't able to pass on, that it's their aether which never got to leave that makes diving here nigh impossible.
