Port Farrow despite it's rather intimidating looks is a very friendly and happy port town. While the winter always stays here, they do get summers where some of the snow melts and the flowers of spring and summer do bloom. The port has a large amount of fish they haul in every day so the port is quite prosperous, they've even got traders that take pack mules and chocobos out to trade wares.
Since everyone pitches in here, trades vary from items for items of equal value or items for gil, whatever you have you can likely trade here for something else. The people of the port believe one mans trash is sometimes another mans treasure.
If you have nowhere to go, you can get a free meal from a soup kitchen and a free bed out of the cold, however all places have a strict rule. They will only provide for a week. By then you must have yourself a job and be able to pay your own way. They won't provide for you any longer than that.
Travellers are often ones to take advantage of this offer or at least the ones that pass through, though the port town is rather new, they've become a rather large place, a lot of the inhabitants being from what was once SnoweHolme, or being people who escaped Meia.
