I FALL FROM GRACE I GOT YOUR TASTE Meia had proved useful in getting her back on her feet and well to a degree. They didn’t seem keen on letting her go before she’d been completely recovered, mostly so they could dig through her purse some more, but they had when she’d snuck out the window and had left in the early morning. Like she was going to pay a thousand gil for a room a night. The medicine for the cold she was still suffering from, sure, she could understand that out here they’d be relying on shipments and the like, but Alisaie wasn’t going to wind up flat broke because of a town of completely unsavory people. So she left fifty gil on the table and left without paying the other nine-hundred and fifty that they had wanted from her. It’s not like she’s going to be going back there anytime soon, no. Alisaie was going to smack anyone upside the head who would dare suggest it.Getting something warmer had been just as disastrous, but if she was going to get further than a league she needed something the keep her warm, and the large woolen coat and boots were helping. The wind though—relentless. It blew against her face as she walked along, hugging herself with her hands under her armpits and her teeth chattering. It bit into her legs when it blew the coat a certain way, and the snow she was kicking up wasn’t helping matters any, either. Cold, cold all around. Her head tilted down and the young girl coughed, her shoulders shaking a bit as she breathed in deep through her nose, the mucus in it clogging up her breathing. She’d taken the medicine and it had worked, but it wasn’t a miracle in the form of the herb that she had been wanting, needing. The cold stuck with her and made her face and ears red, her lips pale, and her nose snotty. As unbecoming as it was, she knew that going back would get her an even bigger fee and she wasn’t keen on being someone’s bitch. So she was headed to the next closest city that she had heard of in passing. SnowHolme; from what she gathered it wasn’t a well thought of place but any that Meia thought bad of, Alisaie would consider an ally. It hadn’t been that far, and if she squinted now, the Elezen could see the outline of… well, not much. She continued forward though, nothing good behind her and not knowing where else to turn to. The village was in need of great repair, and compared to the charming looks of Meia, it looked more like an army had passed through it and torn at the buildings, or had been attacked by wyverns. “Gods, this place…” she took out a handkerchief and blew her nose, the long ears sticking out from her head twitching a fraction. The ends were red, turning a close shade to blue, and as she folded back up her cloth, her nose was just as cherry red. “What happened?” Alisaie wondered softly, her arms wrapping back around in their previous position. It reeked of despair, and sadness felt heavy on the dull and about to fall apart buildings. A complete opposite of Meia. Why wouldn’t the other town help this one? There was no need for it to be in such a state, with how many resources the other had.@open ● 600 ● muse ● test test~ MADE BY VEL OF GS

Out in his camp Zest looked at his numb hands. It has beed two weeks since he arrived in this place. It has been that long since he had to focus and try to survive on his own. He couldn't bother the townsfolk in Snowhole, they were already suffering so much with the lack of supplies. He could manage, this wasn't going to kill him. He just needed to calm down and make sure that he didn't freeze to death. Luckly he had a way to do that. From making his body completely blood cold thanks to being in Umbral ice form, to summoning Ifrit-egi and let it be there as a moble campfire. He had his ways to survive.
He had stood up from his makeshift seat and looked out to the town. "I suppose it is time to see them again. Maybe this time they will accept my help in this turn of events."He put out the small camp fire he had and left his camp, which was in a nearby cave. He used the leather and fur of wild beasts to create makeshift blankets and covers for the deadly cold. It wasn't the most elaborate set that he had slept on but it was something that he had worked hard to make sure he was alive. It was hard enough as it was with the cold. Zest needed to get them to see that moving away from this cold was the only way. But so far all he had gotten was his face smashed through a door. Not because they hated him but because they were afraid.
Being blind had a lot of advantages, for one being attacked from the back was no longer an issue. He sensed all around him and had a 360 'vision' to say the least. This land, this place was one where he could see almost crystal clear. Faces were still hard to recognize but he could almost see them. He got used to recognize them by their atherical mark. almost like a DNA maker that each person had. Lastly, he was more intuned with the land given that he was borrowing some of their power so he wouldn't run out of magic so quickly. He expanded so much magic simply by sensing that he needed an outside source. so even just a little he borrowed and put back when he didnt need as much. Usually by using his own magic.
He had made it to the small town of Snowholme, it was still so lonely and bare it made his stomach flip. He couldn't just stand here and watch these people suffer. He had to do something but the question was what? He needed someone to come with him and if all he could do was hunt for these people so they would eat for the night then that was what he was going to do. He came to a stop when he sense someone he recognized. He broke into a sprint, the only thing that made him realize that he wasn't alone that there was someone he could now talk to.
“What happened?”
"This place has been runned down to the ground. Though I assume you can see that for yourself." Zest answered. "I have not been able to get anyone to talk to me but perhaps they might listen to you better. I was never the diplomat type." he noticed the state the Aliese was and took out his tome. Out of the two styles he had Zest learned to stick to summoner the most. Ifrit's help was something that was desired in him. It was better to have 4 hands or in this case 2 arms and 2 claws. "Swiftcast: Summon!"
Ifirt-Egi was in its small form. getting close to Aliese to warm her up. Zest wasn't too far from them. He wasn't sure why she was here, but maybe with her help he could change things in this small town. Or at least find out how it got this way.

I FALL FROM GRACE I GOT YOUR TASTE She hadn’t been expecting an answer to her question, and she most certainly hadn’t expected to come into contact with anyone that she knew here, of all places. Alisaie heard the crunching of snow, and fast paced running coming towards her. She turned to face it, her hand almost darting back behind her before it froze. That was a face she knew—Zest! "This place has been runned down to the ground. Though I assume you can see that for yourself." The girl looked back to the village and hummed softly in agreement, her arms crossing over her middle. Indeed—this place was in such disrepair that it hurt her conscience, making her unable to look away.
"I have not been able to get anyone to talk to me but perhaps they might listen to you better. I was never the diplomat type." So, he’d been trying to figure out the situation already? It didn’t sound like it’d been going well so far, judging from the way he was looking to her to take over communications between them and the villagers. "Swiftcast: Summon!"
Alisaie watched as a mini-ifrit appeared in front of them and sighed softly in relief. Her hand went over her chest and rubbed her collar bone underneath the jacket, and she cleared her throat. “You have my thanks,” she began, her toes curling and uncurling in the boots on her feet. Summons—lovely creatures that she didn’t know what anyone would do without. “I’m so glad to see someone in these… peculiar conditions that we seem to be in.” Alisaie couldn’t stress that enough—it was a blessing, truly.
“So, you’ve made contact with them already, I take it.” Alisaie wasn’t used to someone not wanting help from someone willing to give it to them. “I’ll do my best to help, then. We can’t just leave them like this, now can we? No matter how much they make it seem like they don’t want us to.” Other questions needed to be answered, such as what here was, and why they weren’t anywhere close to home. She hadn’t even heard of Meia before, which didn’t bode well, at all. But they were going to have to be put to the side, and maybe they could figure it out along the way as they tried to communicate with the village.
Her fingers were easier to move, and she flexed them a bit, getting the blood flowing. “You’ve met them, already. Tell me, what sort of reaction did you get from them?” It wouldn’t do her any good to go bumbling in and get the same exact outcome that he had, no one talking to her. “If they didn’t reach out and ask for help or talk to you, there must be something barring them from doing so. If we can get at least one on our side and willing to talk, we’ll be able to figure out what the problem is. It could be something simple, like trust. Or there’s something bigger going on here.” There were pieces on the board already, she’d just have to figure out how they fit together.

Zest let out a small smile, he wasn't sure how long was it since he last did that. Too long by his standards. He hadn't felt so happy to see someone he knew. She didn't look too bad, the cold was something that they were working on. This was not a place where just anyone can be dropped off. This was Aliese after all, she was a strong girl. He had been there all the way with her and saw her grow. If anyone can endure being in this place it would be her.
“I’m so glad to see someone in these… peculiar conditions that we seem to be in.”
"Aye," Zest nodded. He couldn't agree more, she was a wonderful companion and a strong ally. "It is not a favorable location but I think we can manage somehow. And it seems that we might have a long work ahead of us."
“So, you’ve made contact with them already, I take it.” Zest nodded, he had tried for the last two weeks to talk to one of them. To get whatever information he could out of them and maybe to help them in anyway he could but he came out short. If it went any longer he would have used force to get one of them to talk. He could be intimidating if it was needed after all. “I’ll do my best to help, then. We can’t just leave them like this, now can we? No matter how much they make it seem like they don’t want us to.”
"No we cannot but it is not going to be easy. No matter what I have tried they will not wield I am afraid." He let out a small sigh and shook his head. Ifrit-Egi swayed side to side warming anyone near it, which at the moment was Zest and Alisale. "Then again I do not seem the approachable type in this state, especially with an Egi behind me. You know how people are, even back in Eorzea they fear summoners because of the stigma they have with the beast tribes." Summoners, though a more powerful form of an archenist, were feared because their exposure to a primal, some mages think that summoning arts are going to be the downfall of magic and humanity due how close it resembles Primal summoning.
“You’ve met them, already. Tell me, what sort of reaction did you get from them?”
"Well that deserves a yes and a no type of answer." Zest scratched the back of his head and looked somewhat embarrassed. "Well you see while I did try from time to time I sort of gotten a few doors slammed to my face. Though I do not take it against them. It is not that they hate me or anyone really. I could sort of sen- I mean see it on their faces. Their eyes showed fear. However, if someone more sweet should come to their doors maybe they would open us just a little." He internally cursed himself for that slip up, he wasn't sure if she knew about his.... condition. If she didn't then he didn't need her to worry about it. the less she knew about it the better.
If they didn’t reach out and ask for help or talk to you, there must be something barring them from doing so. If we can get at least one on our side and willing to talk, we’ll be able to figure out what the problem is. It could be something simple, like trust. Or there’s something bigger going on here.”
"I am not sure, though that brings up a good question. Are there any towns close to this one? I have not gotten the chance to explore this land very much other than hunting food and other necessities. If so what can you tell me about them? Mayhap we could find a way to parley and bring help to this poor town." He placed his hand underneath his chin and continued. "If only we had a map to tell us how far is it to the closest none winter land. We could start making plans and moving these people. I'd say we can take care of most threats you and I so that is also an option. However for any of those things to work we need to get them to trust us and open up to us."

I FALL FROM GRACE I GOT YOUR TASTE Alisaie had only ever worked with him in the Coil—she wasn’t as direct with her hand in the dealings of the Scions but she had been there. Her brother could work within, do it his way, and she’d do it hers, from the outside. But he wasn’t here at the moment, and the this would require a personal and up-close touch. She wasn’t all that worried though, beside her was one of the strongest known to Eorzea. Together they’d pack quite the punch, and be able to get things done."Aye, It is not a favorable location but I think we can manage somehow. And it seems that we might have a long work ahead of us." The Elezen frowned a bit, reminded of the cold weather and snow that was everywhere one looked. Where had he been staying then? The townspeople didn’t seem too keen on letting him in, and interacting. They’d need to find a ‘base of operations’ where they wouldn’t freeze as much. This place didn’t look like it had a lot to offer, but maybe they could find some building that wasn’t in use. Turn it into something they could work from, and use to blend in instead of standing around as they were at the moment. "No we cannot but it is not going to be easy. No matter what I have tried they will not wield I am afraid. Then again I do not seem the approachable type in this state, especially with an Egi behind me. You know how people are, even back in Eorzea they fear summoners because of the stigma they have with the beast tribes." “In your state.” She echoed, looking over the Summoner once more. What had he meant by that? First look, second look—she couldn’t gleam anything from it. “Yes, well, we’ll just have to show them that you don’t mean any harm.” He wasn’t a very threatening person, well, at least she thought that, since she was on his side. Alisaie rubbed her hands together and looked back at the small summon, smiling faintly. “It shouldn’t be that hard, you have quite the useful summon for an area such as this.” Yes, that would be helpful if they tried to make friendly. If they thought of the Ifrit-Igi as a portable heater instead of a monster, then that might change how they approached him. "Well that deserves a yes and a no type of answer." Alisaie looked back to him, giving Zest her full attention once more. "Well you see while I did try from time to time I sort of gotten a few doors slammed to my face. Though I do not take it against them. It is not that they hate me or anyone really. I could sort of sen- I mean see it on their faces. Their eyes showed fear. However, if someone more sweet should come to their doors maybe they would open us just a little."“Fear, hm?” She could understand suspicion, but outright fear? What had these people been put through to have such a reaction to someone they don’t know? “Yes, some do tend to be a little kinder to the younger, feminine looking type.” Her eyes rolled a bit, and it was true, of course it was. People could let their guard down for the sweetest face, but in this case it would do them good to. "I am not sure, though that brings up a good question. Are there any towns close to this one? I have not gotten the chance to explore this land very much other than hunting food and other necessities. If so what can you tell me about them? Mayhap we could find a way to parley and bring help to this poor town. If only we had a map to tell us how far is it to the closest none winter land. We could start making plans and moving these people. I'd say we can take care of most threats you and I so that is also an option. However for any of those things to work we need to get them to trust us and open up to us." “There’s just one town close enough to this place, and it’s called Meia.” Alisaie said the name like she was spitting out a sour grape, her foot tapping against the ground as she shook her head. “Do not bother with them, the entirety of the town is filled with money grubbing imbeciles. I just left there myself. They charge you out of house and everything you own with outlandish prices. A thousand gil for a room! A thousand! Absolutely preposterous!” Her temper snapped for a moment, cracking like a whip and it was apparent that she held no love for the place she was speaking of.“They will grant no parley. If they do twould only be to mock us, and deny any succor. They hold no small amount of distaste for SnowHolme, for some reason. I couldn’t manage to find out why, for it didn’t seem necessary at the time. Now that it is, I wish that I had.” Another shake from her head, the braid on her back swishing side to side with the motion. “We will need to learn more about this place, and a map would benefit us greatly, if only we had the means to get one. None here seem ready to give us one, but yes, that is where we shall begin. Getting them to trust us so that they would, and learn more about their predicament.” MADE BY VEL OF GS

“Yes, well, we’ll just have to show them that you don’t mean any harm.”
"I suppose we could somehow. I was thinking that if words were not enough to show my intentions then perhaps a bit of offerings might help. This place does not seem like they are well fed." Zest crossed his arms and looked around. This place that seemed abandoned, if he didnt know any better it was. However, he had been here for a couple of weeks. He had scared the few people that were outside with his training and hunting, now they would go into their homes if they caught word that he was in town. Zest didn't mean to place the villagers in distress, but he wanted to stay warm at the time. "At this point I am willing to try anything to help."
“It shouldn’t be that hard, you have quite the useful summon for an area such as this.”
"It was not Ifrit's fault.... well not entirely." Zest scratched the back of his head. "I think they caught me using some techniques and that might have frightened them a little. Perhaps it was not wise to use so much force back then, cannot be helped now. Though in hindsight I should have restrained myself and not trained while I was on foreign grounds." He should have noticed back them that he was not in Eorzea but he was caught in the moment.
Zest wanted to find out more of where she was before she eneded up in this place. Aliasile seemed to know more than he did, so it felt natural to ask if she knew about the surrounding towns, if any. Though from the expression on her face it seemed it was the wrong thing to ask. He might as well asked her if she wanted to invite the Garleans out to tea. He was about to ask why she made that face, while he couldn't see it as a normal person, this new world and its Aether made it so easy to 'see' expressions. He couldn't pick up all the details but he could sense it and it wasn't pretty.
“There’s just one town close enough to this place, and it’s called Meia.” If Zest didn't know better he could have swear that she spat out venom. “Do not bother with them, the entirety of the town is filled with money grubbing imbeciles. I just left there myself. They charge you out of house and everything you own with outlandish prices. A thousand gil for a room! A thousand! Absolutely preposterous!”
Zest didn't have the heart to tell her that how she described it was a normal day in the markets of Uldah. If one wasn't careful and ignorant of the value of wares, merchants could overprice everything if allowed to. It was only to the sense of arguing that one could have things dirt cheap. One just needed to know how to haggle. "I see, that does not sound good."
“They will grant no parley. If they do it would only be to mock us, and deny any succor. They hold no small amount of distaste for SnowHolme, for some reason. I couldn’t manage to find out why, for it didn’t seem necessary at the time. Now that it is, I wish that I had.”
"It matters not." Zest let out a small sigh. This was going to be harder than he thought. "You have told me what I needed to know. Though I feel it is just a simple reason. It may be due to their weak nature that this Meia picks on other smaller villagers. It is hard to tell at this point. Mayhap I should go there and see for myself."
“We will need to learn more about this place, and a map would benefit us greatly, if only we had the means to get one. None here seem ready to give us one, but yes, that is where we shall begin. Getting them to trust us so that they would, and learn more about their predicament.”
At that Zest could agree, if they could trust them then the duo could help the people. trust worked both ways. Still, no matter what they had to keep their eyes on the prize. Among other things. "That is well and good. However do you feel ok? DO you wish to rest before we start this? If you wish we could go to my base outside the town. I made sure to have some sort of warm home while I talk to these people. Since they were too scared to help me or maybe they couldn't. I just do not wish for you to catch a cold or some other illness. You did seem to walk pretty far from where you came from. There are also other things I wish to ask you. However, that is something that we have to do in private. Though yes, no one knows us, i feel that it is safer that way."
The small flame summon twirled lightly, its flames radiating as it circled them, trying to bring his master and friend the warmth in this cold and baron land.

I FALL FROM GRACE I GOT YOUR TASTE "I think they caught me using some techniques and that might have frightened them a little. Perhaps it was not wise to use so much force back then, cannot be helped now. Though in hindsight I should have restrained myself and not trained while I was on foreign grounds."Fear of the unknown. Yes, that might have been what set them on edge around him. There wasn’t much they could do to erase their unease about what had already been done, other than trying. “If that’s the case, then we both need to be careful in front of them.” Though her attacks didn’t seem quite as threatening as his must. Carbuncle was loved by children and seen as a favorite for its cute appearance.
Though here, that might not be the case once again. "You have told me what I needed to know. Though I feel it is just a simple reason. It may be due to their weak nature that this Meia picks on other smaller villagers. It is hard to tell at this point. Mayhap I should go there and see for myself." Alisiaie exhaled slowly as she thought about it, and looked back around the run down area. “That’s probably the root of this village’s problem, Meia. I won’t discourage you from going, but do be careful. When you’re ready to take a look, I can show you part of the way and set you in the right direction, if you’d like.” She wouldn’t be taking another step in there, ever again. Not as long as the greasy faces of tricksters and thieves looked back at her like they owned her body and soul. Maybe to smack someone upside the head with her book, but that was far below her in terms of etiquette and she wasn’t about to sink down and let her anger out on small bugs. "These people are probably scared of you because you might become a threat. They have no reason to trust you won't turn on them and join Meia's side, and start using that power on them."Another thing that they'll need to establish between them. A common dislike for the all-too cheerful and dreadful village."That is well and good. However do you feel ok? DO you wish to rest before we start this? If you wish we could go to my base outside the town. I made sure to have some sort of warm home while I talk to these people. Since they were too scared to help me or maybe they couldn't. However, that is something that we have to do in private. Though yes, no one knows us, i feel that it is safer that way." “You have as many questions to ask me as I have you, quite possibly. And I am,” she felt of her hands and rubbed them together, and breathed in a deep breath. Now that she wasn’t shivering in her boots, Alisaie could breathe a lot better. “quite fine now, thank you Zest. I believe the cold is my only ailment at the moment, and it would do me better to move around rather than stay stationary in one place. We could see this base of yours so that I know where it is, and begin our discussion whenever you’re ready to.”
The discussion that was to come was going to be interesting, to say the least. Alisaie waited for him to lead the way to whatever direction they were to be going, her eyes focused on the bobbing mini primal that was warming them, a fond smile forming on her face now that they had gotten past the unpleasant topic.
