History For the first four years of Nu's life he knew only love, beauty, and art. Born into a small settlement nestled into the frozen north he was raised by his loving parents. Though he's long since forgotten their names he recalls their love of art and recalls the paintings lingering in the fire-lit halls and the songs that resonated throughout their home. Even at four, Nu knew that he wanted to conjure something beautiful into the world just as his parents did. It was a pleasant time in his life, a happy time, though it was briefly lived. In the far reaches, where civilization struggles to maintain a foothold, banditry runs rampant. Small settlements like those that Nu's family had choose to reside in were often beset by rogues and brigands. No one ever believes that such a fate could truly befall them. When the clan of cutthroats descended on Nu's nameless cluster of homes they came with the force of an avalanche. The whooped and hollered, slashed and burned, and cut a bloody path through his home leaving the snow stained red. His parents, pacifists by nature, tried to run from the fury of their invaders. They hadn't made it far before a hail of arrows pierced Nu's parents and the fell atop him. As the young fox cried out the men who'd destroyed his life came upon him. Pulling in less than they'd hoped they looked upon the alabaster haired child and saw profit in his misfortune. There were scores of people who would have paid to have an exotic slave such as Nu. So, Nu found his life of art and peace replaced with one of shackles and fear. Nu's first few months with the bandit clan was difficult. He found himself under the watchful eye of the bandit's leader, Fel, a rather handsome, if not vile man. Fel was distrustful of his followers, believing that they'd double cross him. He dragged Nu about on a collar as they men marched, threatening violence whenever the boy began to wail. As the days began to pass Nu's courage began to grow and he began to ask questions. They were the questions of a four year old, simple and straight to the point. Fel liked those sort of questions. At first he was hesitant to answer, but eventually he began to answer the fox tailed boy. Days trickled to weeks and the weeks turned to months and Nu was still bound to the man. Nu had nothing left in the world and so he latched onto Fel and Fel had grown to enjoy the little fox's company. He began to let Nu wander around the camp and with that one act Nu went from being a captive to the bandit's mascot. Ten years came and went and Nu had found a place with the men who'd killed his family and stolen his life. He scarcely remembered it. He remembered art and music interrupted by an intense moment of fear and fire. After that, all he could recall was Fel and his men. To fight the boredom that came with living among the bandits Nu had taken up various artistic pursuits to the delight of the bandits. Now fourteen Nu had watched from afar as Fel and his man waylaid wanderers and put settlements to the torch. He'd grown accustomed to it and, ever eager to please Fel, wanted to accompany his captors on a raid. Nu asked Fel and the man could only laugh at the boy's determination. Nu had never been in a fight, let alone held a blade. Fel told the boy that he was to fragile. Nu, in a rage, attacked the bandit lord in attempt to show his strength. Fel stabbed the boy in the shoulder before putting him in the dirt. With a grin he told the boy that he was weak, but gods be damned he had the stones to be a fighter. Fel felt it would be in the lad's best interest to learn how to fight before tagging along on a raid. It was then that Fel called upon his right hand man, Lo. Lo had always been present, a silent figure and Fel's enforcer. Nu had witnessed him fight dozens of men at a single time using some odd brand of sorcery and swordsmanship. No matter what Nu had tried he'd never been able to speak with Lo, no one, except Fel, had ever spoken more than a few words to him. Other ACCEPTED Characters Made by Razz of KHR |
