WATCHING She had climbed one of the tower like buildings in these ruins, wearing the fancy red, gold and white yukata she got from Dratia, dyed bridesmaids tights, cotton dress shoes and her new hair cut, a little shorter than it was before but it was still just fine by her.
She took a moment to look around herself once she reached the top, she could see the world from here. She could see the tower of light in the distance and she could see the forest below this town. The space up here was quite large actually, could easily throw a party here or even stage a performance.
That brought a smile to her face before she performed a bomb dance from back home, though that didn't last instead she went in to something new, a dance she learned in Dratia, she'd taken an interest in the place, mostly because people seemed to respect her instead of asking her to do things for them. She could go there and like someone had suggested, relax. So right now? She stayed on this roof performing that dance till she grew bored after a moment and simply noticed something.
Stars. Her eyes shifted towards them as she stood there quietly. Honestly? She didn't expect anyone else to be up this late in the night. But she was restless. She'd work but she'd wake people up if she did and honestly she wasn't quite that rude. So she was trying to busy herself. Hell the only reason why she wore the pretty and fancy yukata was because she didn't think anyone else would come up here.
Slowly she'd sit down on the cold stone and she'd just watch the skies.
"Even though... I know I can be happy here... I still want to go home. Because what I do at home is what I know... Am I so whipped by everyone elses desires of me that I can't even think for myself any more? Am I bound by duty? Even if I dislike what I have to do back home I still want to go back and finish what I started?..." She began but she wasn't done. She had more to get out even if it was just to herself and she didn't feel like she could say anything to those around her, or even cry before them. Why was that anyway? Was she really so obsessed with being everyone elses rock that she couldn't even feel without feeling like she was doing something wrong?
"Or maybe my hate for the Ascians is so strong that I can't just leave them to run a mock but what if I go back and everything's changed? What if I go back and things aren't the same as when I left... What if Thordan gets what he wants, what if the Ascians win, what if darkness consumes that world... My friends..." Slowly her head started to dip down, eyes closing and her breathing was deep, she had to stay calm.
"I am... So sorry... You might not be able to hear me right now... You might think I'm the worst for vanishing but... I am sorry and I wish this hadn't happened." She could feel her voice cracking so she stopped and took another breath and sighed. She had to stay strong. Even if she was told that this wasn't something she could fix, she'd damn well try, that way no one could say she hadn't.
It was now that she heard footsteps, hopefully whoever ascended the tower didn't hear her little rant and if they did oh well it wasn't like it mattered. Right?

Her calf muscles ached and her feet screamed in protest. The walk from wherever she had wound up meeting the two females to Thion had been quite the chore, especially since all she’d been doing since she fell here was walk. The once-thick leather soles of her boots were now thin enough to be called socks, the resistance between her foot and the ground non-existent, making shock waves travel up and down her spine in protest.
She looked over the buildings in the once abandoned town and twisted away, not wanting to intrude so late in a place so foreign. Ul’dah had been one start; they had a guild and place for adventurers to stay, but in this place it was pick and building and she didn’t want to stake on claimed ground by accident. So Lumi grasped a branch and pulled herself up, her feet kicking off the trunk of the tree as she hooked her leg around the frame and spun herself upright.
The tall boots were pulled off and hung on the branch—she could repair them at a later date but now she was occupied with rubbing the heels of her feet with her thumbs, blowing air on them like it would help. ”Nasty, sweaty little’uns, can’t you do a friend a favor and stop hurtin’ me?” The ache continued and she let go of her foot, the limb hanging off the branch. ”No? That’s just fine then. Have it your way.”
Lumi leaned her weight against the back of the tree and retrieved her harp from her bag, setting the instrument down in her lap. The strings weren’t calling to her, even underneath the stars and the moon in a new land that should be exploding at the seams with stories and music.
”Don’t think I ate anything bad… prolly just tired.” That had to be it, the fair colored bard thought as she ran a finger over a string and absently plucked at it. ”It’ll come back to me, always does.”
If it didn’t, she’d find something to replace it. Whatever replaced inspiration that is.
”Maybe I’ll be a cook for some time,” her mouth watered and Lumi bobbed her head up and down. Oh yeah, that sounded nice! Eating whenever she wanted and being around food all the time… ”Dat’d be paradise…”
Lumi shivered, her head turning back up to the sky. The gods just liked to make her have to do something she didn’t wanna, didn’t they? The trees were getting colder as the temperature of the night dropped, and the woman was forced to abandon her perch and search for one in the town elsewhere. A tower caught her eye and she chewed on the inside of her cheek as she took a step up on it. The area above her eye ached something bad, and she was half-tempted to just go crawl under a house or something, when she heard the faint words in the air. ”I am… So sorry… You might not be able to hear me right now… You might think I’m the worst for vanishing but… I am sorry and I wish this hadn’t happened.”
There she went hearing something she probably shouldn’t have. She scratched at the back of her head and continued up the stairs though, and stopped on the one before the top to look at whoever was up there. That voice, she knew it but she didn’t, not until she saw the back of the figure. “Eh…” Lumi started, her fingers slackening on the grip of the harp. It almost fell, but she quickly hugged it to her chest as she took another step up and a few towards Razaphale. “The heavenly guide, compass and director,” Lumi pulled from her mind, her fingers grazing the strings and letting the small tune fill the air, “Everyone sees them but no one knows, not till the call for the morning, that they were there all along.” She plopped down a ways away, her leg stretched out and the other bent underneath her. "Watching over the children of Light.”
"Ain't it a little late in the evenin' ta be wearing that? Not like it's any of my beeswax, or anything, ya look real pretty. Reckon there be a lotta fellers that'd think the same if they saw 'ya sportin' that there."

WATCHING At first there was music. Not long after there was a voice singing along and at first she didn't look at the person. Instead she was about to tell them to just... Go away and leave her alone, that was of course until she recognized the voice.
“The heavenly guide, compass and director,” She listened and her head lifted to where she was just peering over the forestbefore her.
“Everyone sees them but no one knows, not till the call for the morning, that they were there all along.” The music moved, probably the other woman sitting down or moving about.
"Watching over the children of Light.” Now the music stopped Razaphale turned her head to look at the other first it was a blank expression, then a slight frown.
"Ain't it a little late in the evenin' ta be wearing that? Not like it's any of my beeswax, or anything, ya look real pretty. Reckon there be a lotta fellers that'd think the same if they saw 'ya sportin' that there." That frown turned in to a smile, a small chuckle came from the Auri woman.
"Probably late yeah and I'm not exactly a fan of the cold either. Only reason I'm wearing this about is because I didn't think anyone would be up and about to see me. Then again, even if fellahs did like how this looks they'd only be able to look anyway, not that they'd ever see this... I mean Cid has but I guess he didn't mind it so much either... Aura told me you were okay Lu... I'm just glad I get to see you with my own eyes now. " Her eyes sort of glazed over a little bit. Damnnit all to hell and back.
"Cid and I... I... Guess we're a thing now... I had to be convinced to at least give it all a chance though and convinced to try and wind down a bit because here we're not... Warriors of Light who everyone depend on, this place has their own people to turn too... We're just... Normal here... Still makes me feel a bit useless though... And I'm not sure if I really want to go back for me or if it's just because I feel it's what I should do for everyone else. It's strange..." She sighed and shook her head.
"Sorry... You just show up and I start talking your ear off without giving you a chance to breathe.... How are you? You didn't get hurt or anything did you? Picked out a house yet?" She asked and she smiled again, perhaps her darker fears were better left locked away, she'd talk to Cid at some point. Maybe he could help, he always did after all, he had his head screwed on enough for her to be able to at least talk to him and not only that but, they were a thing now... Right?.... Which meant she should talk to him about any worries she had... Right? Or maybe she shouldn't? She didn't know, she was a bit lost there.

Aura told me you were okay Lu... I'm just glad I get to see you with my own eyes now. " Lumi tilted to her head as she listened, her head bobbing once or twice as she chuckled at the ‘They’d only be able to look anyway’ bit. That was true, Razzle would probably knock’em from Ala Mhigo to Limsa if they so much as lifted a pinky her way. These other names meant something to her, the bard knew and was slowly piecing them together.
A helpful mechanic with cool goggles—that was Cid. Aura was the one she’d met in the forest and then got separated from, the person who seemed to know her, but at the time Lumi couldn’t quite recall more than the nickname ‘Poptart’.
"Cid and I... I... Guess we're a thing now...” The bard chortled happily, her back straightening at the news. ‘About time!’ she said underneath her breath, her hand stroking her chin in thought. Pretty sure there was a bet going on for that… gonna need to ask...
“I had to be convinced to at least give it all a chance though and convinced to try and wind down a bit because here we're not... Warriors of Light who everyone depend on, this place has their own people to turn too... We're just... Normal here... Still makes me feel a bit useless though... And I'm not sure if I really want to go back for me or if it's just because I feel it's what I should do for everyone else. It's strange..." Normal—that was a word that she wasn’t expecting to hear, and the fact that it applied to them made it all the stranger. Warriors of Light, not being needed? Lumi’s face morphed into one of ‘Are you serious?’ and from there stoic surprise that showed on the thin line of her lips and the crinkle in her brow.
"Sorry... You just show up and I start talking your ear off without giving you a chance to breathe.... How are you? You didn't get hurt or anything did you? Picked out a house yet?"
Lumi spread her arms in a wide gesture while lightly shrugging her shoulders. “Alive and here in one piece, if ya’d believe it. Think tha only casualty was me boots, but them can be replaced real easy-like, not much to worry ‘bout.” She let her light happiness that was still there filter into her words, more to make the other not worry as much about her. “So, Poptart is here as well? That’s some good news, didn’t know if she went this way or that when I lost her.” Trust Lumi to watch over someone without her attention drifting away or her sleeping more than a few hours.
“Ain’t gonna be that easy for us, getting used to this normal thing. Never thought I’d wind up in another place where we ain’t needed, if I’d known I’da bought some more food before stepping out me door ‘fore I fell here. Be prepared and all that, dig?” Not like living off of nature the past weeks weren’t fun, she’d loved every minute of it. “Reckon we can think about the going back when we know if we really can, and all that. Haven’t seen hide or tail of anything to do with that, so I guess we’ll just be having a little vacay here. Think of it as… Costa, without the pretty umbrella drinks and a lot more trees.”
“Don’t mind the talking, ain’t done much of it or listening to anything intelligent enough to hold a conversation in a long time. That and strangers don’t make for good secret sharers, that be just awkward. Ain’t got me eye set on any house yet, never been much of one to have a roof over my head as much as I like the canopy.” She turned an eye over to the houses, scanning the roofs, “Might do that searching for one in the mornin’.”

SMILE “Alive and here in one piece, if ya’d believe it. Think tha only casualty was me boots, but them can be replaced real easy-like, not much to worry ‘bout.” Razz smiled, she was rather content with that answer to be honest, though she would worry a little regardless she at least knew Lumi could take care of herself.
“So, Poptart is here as well? That’s some good news, didn’t know if she went this way or that when I lost her.” Razz nodded.
"How long for however I don't know..." She folded her arms as she spoke, more to keep the chill off and keep her nerves low. It was strange how nervous she was about being out here in someones view in something so short.
“Ain’t gonna be that easy for us, getting used to this normal thing. Never thought I’d wind up in another place where we ain’t needed, if I’d known I’da bought some more food before stepping out me door ‘fore I fell here. Be prepared and all that, dig?” A chuckle came from Razz along with a nod of the head.
"I completely understand. It's been difficult for me to adjust, so I wouldn't be surprised if you found it difficult or even the others. We've done so much... Only for us to not be needed all of a sudden. It is what it is though eh?" She smiled rather gently, this place had given her the excess time she'd needed. To talk to Cid. To get things on the road. To learn how to take it easy rather than rush in to everything blazing a trail of destruction. She'd miss that life though, an adventurers life, no, a warrior of lights life. She really would but if she couldn't go back... She'd just stay here with Cid and be... Happy.
“Reckon we can think about the going back when we know if we really can, and all that. Haven’t seen hide or tail of anything to do with that, so I guess we’ll just be having a little vacay here. Think of it as… Costa, without the pretty umbrella drinks and a lot more trees.” Razz shrugged.
"Never really liked beaches for personal reasons but yeah, vacation, maybe an unending one at that." She sighed a bit and then rolled her shoulders.
“Don’t mind the talking, ain’t done much of it or listening to anything intelligent enough to hold a conversation in a long time. That and strangers don’t make for good secret sharers, that be just awkward. Ain’t got me eye set on any house yet, never been much of one to have a roof over my head as much as I like the canopy.” Razz shrugged.
“Might do that searching for one in the mornin’.”
"Well, most of the houses are empty right now that I know of and well, even if you do like the canopy, it can't hurt to have a roof to hide under if it starts pouring down or it starts to snow right? I'd rather not wake up one morning to a Lu popsicle out in the forest."
