Nikolai Volkov

Class/Classes: Red Mage

Nikolai was born just outside of Ikaros in a small shed that had belonged to his mother and father built some time ago. As a young boy he spent his time learning under his father who had been a well accomplished Red Mage who had been known to have some...minor psychological issues. Growing up he was taught in the ways of using fire magic the same as his father had been and his father before him, the Volkov family name had derived from Fire and continued to burn through each one it touched. From his mother he learned about the basics of magic and how to channel it for more than destructive uses. Once Nikolai had became five, he began to accompany his father on ventures to different cities often picking up tasks from mission boards to do in their spare time.

During these times his father had shown him how to use rage and aggression to fuel his fire, essentially fighting with rage than intellect. When Nikolai had messed up during training or instructions his father punished him with fire instead of words. As time went on Nikolai became an image of his father often burning his capture victims instead of bringing them in alive which was what his father had wanted out of him. At certain points his mother would heavily scold him on letting his anger get the best of him, and if he didn't learn to reign it in he would end up just like his grandfather. What Nikolai did not understand was that each male before him and his father had died to their own rage, allowing it to cloud their judgement and die by their own hands. As time passed and Nikolai became a teenager he began to anchor his own anger though while he still lived with his father and mother it had proven to be impossible. His fathers lessons became more and more intense as he pushed Nikolai to the brink and had almost killed him several times if not for the intervention of his own mother.

Years past before Nikolai left his home at the age of Eighteen to venture off on his own away from his father, who had by now taught Nikolai all he had to offer. The two had often exchanged words and fists over how he would live his life, his father wanting him to become a mercenary or a guard for someone while Nikolai wanted to simply see the world. After leaving on his way, Nikolai visited the villages within the area near Ikaros often picking up books on magic to increase his knowledge while trying to tame his anger in. After spending a few months adventuring he returned home to see his mother who had written him a letter not to long ago. As he returned home he would see that his mother had been lying on the ground still and his father over her breathing heavily. When he questioned his father on what had happened, he simply replied telling him that she had challenged him and had ultimately lost to him.

He could feel his anger welling slowly as he continued to speak with the male, his father saying that his mother was foolish to challenge him on how to raise his son and what was right for him and that she was better off dead which sent Nik into a frenzy. The two battled furiously against one another until an enraged Nikolai burned his father into a crisp. After gaining control of his senses he quickly buried his mother and lit his house aflame, leaving it to burn in its wake as he disappeared. Years past as Nikolai continued to tour the world and eventually ended up near the desert where he had met a peculiar woman whom he had began to travel with as her "dinner". Through traveling with her he had found himself in Y'n Bay where he met a little girl.

Shortly after talking to the girl, he had decided to adopt her as his daughter, giving her the name Rika Volkov and from there decided to travel with her until the two had made it to Thion where they made a new home and a new life. Currently, Nikolai stays with his daughter and his girlfriend (soon to be wife mebbe) Aykel in Thion where he is happy to have a family and has finally calmed down.
