Titles: Galabadian Garden's Premier Sniper(of Ladies' Hearts)
Age: 17
Gender: Male
Race: Human
Sexual Orientation: Heterosexual
World: Final Fantasy 8
Disposition: Good
Class/Classes: Irvine Kinneas
Limit Break
Appearance:
Personality: An Expert Marksman with a bravado to match his skill with a gun, Irvine Kinneas is considered as the "Best Shooter in the Garden Program". A confident ladies man, he woos the hearts of any woman (un)lucky enough to catch his sharp eyes. Quick with a compliment and praise for a beauty, it often finds him with his foot in his mouth when they turn the tables. When he met Selphie Tilmitt, his attention focused on her, but he would still chase a skirt or 2 even with Selphie holding the leash.
Irvine has confidence issues, ones that have only recently started to be overcome. They still haunt him, but he struggles through them with his friends. His loyalty is without question to those he has befriended. Though he is cautious, he isn't a coward. He will step in and risk his life to save those he cares for. Much as the Sniper he is, he chooses his shots carefully, both in gunship and action.

History:
FF8 Storyline *Spoilers*
Things forgotten: Irvine has forgotten the names of each of his former party members, of his friends who were once family. He remembers vague shadowy figures replacing them, but they are silent. It is as if watching your life on mute. And Selphie has been all but erased from his life. All memories of her seem to be like parts in a movie where the reel seems to go off the track. One can see an image, and realize that it is important to the plot, but only get a still frame that shows an image at a distance hard to read.
Irvine's last clear memory was that of heading to the Deep Sea Research Center. A woman he was certain he once remembered told him that there was a major aetherial disturbance there and that readings were off the charts. As he made his way past all the escaped specimens and new inhabitants, he made it back to where he and the shadowy memories fought a creature known as Ultimate Weapon. Where the creature once stood, looming threateningly over them, now stood a rip into what looked to be a void. A creature attacked during this time of examination, surprising Irvine. As the battle waged on, the room collapsed and the ocean waters came rushing in, knocking Irvine unconscious and into the void.
When he awoke, he had found his memory tampered with in the aforementioned ways. He found his way to the nearest town nad hired his services out as a mercenary. He spends his off time in bars, people watching (read as women watching), and the occassional cloud watching and stargazing. His mercenary work eventually led him to the town of Ikaros, where he now resides as a hunter, using his marksmanship to great effect for the town's people.
Sample RP:
As Irvine made his way across the treetop bridges of the town of Ikaros to his favored spot for stargazing, he shouldered Exeter with a huff. A wince of pain happened across his features, as he felt his bandaged wrist sting with a little pain. He was still in recovery after a nasty run in with a rather sizable bear. The two of them had disagreements on who owned the freshly shot deer. While Irvine had made the clean shot that brought the buck down, the bear argued with the logic of the law of the jungle.
It was bigger and meaner.
Irvine was never fond of close quarters battle, but he figured a few shots would scare off the beast. When it did not, he had to switch to getting out of Trouble. He hadn't packed the necessary ammo to fight something that was merely shrugging off the shells he had brought. He'd learn after today that he'd best stay away from a hungry bear.
After being batted aside like a ball (the bear being the bat), Irvine found himself coming to a forcible stop, with the helping object being a nearby tree. He landed awkwardly on his wrist, seemingly spraining it. He was lucky he was carrying a smoke bomb, otherwise the charging bear likely would have finished the job it started. A tossed item and a gunshot later, veered the beast off course long enough for Irvine to make good his escape. He'd never hear the end of this from some of the villagers, but on the upside he'd at least get to talk with that pretty nurse in the physician's office. Interspecies be cursed, a fine pair of legs and piercing eyes were generally appcriated, no matter that race.
He had been right about the villagers making fun, as the tavern was rampant with jokes about how he failed to take down a simple bear. He'd been the brunt of a few, but some of the other hunters took a bit of sympathy for the man, and got him a drink. It helped numb the pain of his wrist, and he planned to use that as an icebreaker with the nurse if he could. He got a couple of guffaws at that notion from some of his hunter pals at the bar.
"Ya da realize that she's gon' likely see through ya ruse," an old hunter friend named Marcus tell the cowboy," She's a wee bit smarter tha' ya giv' 'er credit fer."
Irvine smiles back as he takes a small sip of his ale," I never said she wasn't smart. I merely thought we'd need to share a common interest. Like the improvement of my health. I could always go for a good bit of healthy exercise, and if I'm lucky, she'll be happy to help me with it."
Marcus gives a belly laugh at the gunman," Aye, but ya may wan' ta think if you can perform tha' exercise yerself, considering your disability and all. Last I checked, tha was yer shootin' hand, in more ways then one."
"Nothing a good woman couldn't help back to perfect health," Irvine states with a chuckle, before chugging the last of his ale. "Well I'll see you around, old timer."
"And I'll catch ya later, young gun," the man states to the leaving sharpshooter.
Come to find out, the nurse had left town with the doctor to deliver some medical supplies, and wouldn't be back for several days.
'Suppose it serves me right for getting to cocky,' Irvine thought to himself as he made it to his favored spot. He hopped his way up a rope ladder after holstering his weapon, taking great pains to avoid his hurting wrist. 'It'll be a few days until she gets back. And by then, this little injury will be good as new, even if it is a little tender.'
After reaching the top of the ladder, Irvine settles into the top of the lookout post. He often took guard duty on this spot, but tonight is was but one of the abandoned posts in favor of better positions. As he laid back, he let his eyes drift out of focus as he thoughts drifted to possibly the last known memory he had of his world. The memory of being blasted through a rip in the air, leading him hurdling towards this place with no memory of his loved ones, or family.
He remembered that he'd been sent there while his other former companions dealt with an uprising being started in a place called Galbadia. One of the senior field techs had noted the occurrence of a disturbance in the aetherial flow in the Deep Sea Research Center. Believing that Ultimate Weapon may have returned, Irvine was sent to scout the area and search for any details concerning the disturbance. He was paired with the Guardian Force that guarded the entrance once to his former home, Cerberus. After making his way to the bottom, he had discovered that there was a maelstrom ripple in the pool where Ultima had come from. It when he was near the edge that the bomb attacked. He had fired off a few rounds, stunning the beast, but it countered with its self destruct, blasting him in the rippling void below. But not before he nailed his head on the edge of the stone walkway.
When Irvine awoke, he had awoke to travellers who held him at weapon's point. It was rather disconcerting, but very difficult to concentrate with the pounding headache he was having. As the traveller's once again poked him with weapons, he held his hands up in peace. It took quite a lot of convincing, but he eventually managed to get their help in getting him somewhere safe. A town called Ikaros. Irvine did what he could to help the travellers, doing small jobs to protect them, and even taking up helping the others learn tactics in how to fend off monsters. It was a few weeks, and hte group finally arrived here in Ikaros, where he began hunting to earn a living.
As Irvine gazed into the endless sky, he wondered what was happening back in his own world. Seeing as a lot of it was missing, he wondered if they even missed him at all.
'Only time will tell, I guess,' Irvine thinks with a sorrowful smile.
