Aura Vitae

Aura is a martial artist who best fits into the monk if it wasn't for the spirit named Rau that constantly hangs over his shoulder. Most of the time Rau can't be seen, but Rau can make himself noticeable and when he does he looks like a blue ember of flame floating over the boy's shoulder. Rau has a completely different fighting style that closer resembles the Samurai class. Of course Rau has no physical form, but at times can take the reigns of Aura's body and fight on his own. Rau can technically do this at any time, but leaves it for if the boy is in extreme danger. As a side note it only lasts four posts and can only be used once in a thread.

Aura is a boy who is defined by just how energetic he is. This kid loves to have fun and can never find it in him to stay still for more than just a few minutes at a time. Aura is a very social kid and he will try to strike up a conversation with anyone if they even look vaguely humanoid. The boy deeply cares for other people and just loves it when he makes a new friend. Another thing to take note of is that Aura is extremely confident in his abilities and it shows in his day to day words and actions though maybe he might verge on too confident.

On the other hand the boy is way too immature for his own good. Granted he's still young so it's expected, but he's still very childish and not what one would expect of a serious martial artist. The boy is very dismissive of the future and what it may hold because he thinks in the present and doesn't make goals to reach for the future. It should also be noted that the boy is very reckless and will rush headfirst into battle without even thinking about any possible consequences. Even when the boy is fighting he can't take anything seriously almost like he thinks battle is a big game.

Then there's the little matter of Rau, a ghost claiming to be his ancestor, that constantly hangs over his shoulder. To put it bluntly their lifeforces are linked so Aura has no choice but to deal with him. Rau is pretty much the polar opposite of Aura in every way imaginable. Where Aura can never bring himself to be serious, Rau is always serious even when Aura is doing the most mundane of activities. Rau has a very dry sense of humor unlike his host. Extremely cold, this mature spirit is really hard to talk to.

Aura & Rau

Two hundred years before Aura's birth there was a traveling swordsman named Rau. Rau Vitae was one of Aura's ancestors and while he himself wasn't terrible famous, the Vitae family were know for producing strong swordsmen and martial artists. Throughout Rau's travels he made it priority to try and save people from monsters wherever he went. His life was cut short when he was making his way to Snoweholme. Rau had never thought that he would die by attacking bandits, but the stray arrow that pierced his heart that day said otherwise.

In Ikaros, where Aura was born, Aura's grandfather will often recount the story of Rau's travels to the boy and often suggested that Rau had become either a vengeful spirit looking for revenge or a guardian spirit watching over their family. Ever since Aura could possibly remember he had lived with his grandfather and nobody else. What Aura didn't know was that his parents had died when he was only two years old from illness. Since then his grandfather has been raising the boy up to the boy up to the best of his abilities.

Aura was around five years old when he asked his grandfather to start his martial arts training. Aura was so excited for his grandfather to start his training that he rushed out of their house only to remember at the last moment that they lived in a giant tree house. Aura tried to maintain his balance as when he reached the end of the balcony where the ladder leading to the ground was located, but ultimately the boy still fell. Aside from the nerve wracking pain which strangely subsided moments later Aura really can't remember much about the fall. His grandfather told him after he recovered that a spirit claiming to be his ancestor Rau told his grandfather that the boy was dying. Then he said that Rau offered to save the boy's life by linking their lifeforces together and his grandfather, who was always a spiritual person, accepted almost instantly. This was how Aura came to followed around by a ghost who was a constant killjoy as he trained in martial arts from then to the present day.
