History WIKI LINK Garrett has little knowledge regarding his parents as they died when he was young. After escaping the orphanage he grew up in, his very survival depended on stealing, where for years he honed his thievery skills to perfection. While he was still young he learned to swiftly relieve people of their possessions while they went about their daily business, leaving many to believe they had accidentally misplaced their belongings. >>Gap in Garrett's Memory<< As Garrett's reputation as a thief increased, he eventually met Basso, who acted as his contractor giving him various jobs to steal certain valuables and objects of personal interest. At some point he recruited a young woman by the name of Erin and took her on as his apprentice. The two had an older brother to sister relationship where Garrett eventually grew tired of Erin's constant reckless behaviour which led the two to drift apart for some time. Garrett is paired with his former apprentice, Erin, on a job for Basso. During the job they stumble upon a ritual being conducted by the Baron. In the process, Erin accidentally falls into the channeled energy and has the primal stone embedded within her. Garrett escapes, however, in the process has a piece of the primal stone embedded within his eye and succumbs to a coma. One year later Garrett discovers that the city is now beset by a plague known as the Gloom. Garrett is then asked by Basso again to steal a ring from a man named Cornelius, who has recently died. During this job, Garrett is nearly apprehended by the Thief-taker general, but escapes. Garrett is then introduced to Orion, the charismatic leader of the Graven, a revolution plotting to remove the Baron from power. Orion requests that Garrett steal a book from a brothel known as the House of Blossoms. Before entering the brothel, Garrett visits Erin's hideout, and sees visions of her, mentioning the Moira Asylum. Garrett manages to steal the book but not before another confrontation with the Thief-taker General. Garrett learns that Basso has been captured by the watch, and is now imprisoned inside the Keep, a massive skyscraper fortress built by the Baron's architect, Eastwick. Garrett rescues Basso, afterwards he can't resist stealing a piece of Primal Stone from the Baron's grand safe. In the process, Garrett is wounded by the Thief-taker general. Garrett then travels to the Moira asylum in order to search for clues regarding Erin, to no avail. Garrett then decided to question the Baron himself regarding Erin's whereabouts. By now, the city is up in Orion's Graven revolution, and angry mobs are storming Northcrest manor. The Baron reveals that Orion is in fact his brother, and that he took Erin to complete the ritual and used the Graven to his advantage, The Baron also reveals that the items Orion took were instrumental in the ritual--the book, Erin--and that Garrett is in possession of the final piece of Primal stone, embedded in his eye. Garrett pursues Orion, but not before being confronted by the Thief-taker General once more. While Garrett dispatches the General for the final time, Orion escapes with Erin. Garrett tracks him down to his ship, the Dawn's Light, and attempts to persuade Orion to release Erin, to no avail. In the end, Erin overcharges the Primal stone, killing Orion and knocking back Garrett. Garrett attempts to rescue a now normal Erin from slipping into the ocean. Garrett throws the claw to Erin, attempting to rescue her, but Garrett falls unconscious in the process. >>A New World<< When Garrett awoke he found himself in the care of an Inn keeper in the town of Meia. He was wary of his rescuer and even more wary of the new world that he found himself inhabiting. He had no recollection of falling through any void and seemed to have simply woken up in a strange new place. He was forced to rely upon his rescuer and remained bedridden for a full week. As soon as he found himself with enough strength to stand on his legs the kindly old man demanded compensation. Garrett couldn't help but laugh in the man's face and latter that night vanished from the inn with his belongings and the contents of the man's safe. Several nights spent stalking the village of Meia had shown Garrett that they were a vile people, driven by greed that reminded him of his own home. Deciding that it was as good a place as any to begin his new life he set up shop in a worn out shack and began to liberate the good people of Meia of their worldly burdens. Garret quickly set up a network of contacts between Meia and it's poorer neighbor of Snowholme. While going about his usual business he began to hear tales of other people from strange worlds and of mysterious locations. Mention of these areas and rumors of lost treasures motivated Garrett to leave the relative safety of his hunting grounds in pursuit of larger game. Along the road Garrett discovered a knack for what the inhabitants of the world referred to as adventuring. RP Sample New world, new challenges, new marks, the same old game. Garret allowed himself a somber smile of triumph as he appraised his newly ill gotten treasure. Despite all of the differences this new plane of existence offered the people were just the same. Of course, some of them were far from being the people that Garrett was used to, but they all fell for the same tricks. He looked over the silver necklace clutched in his gloved hand. It was a beautiful piece, something that would have adorned the neck of a merchant's wife's neck along with a few other baubles in his own world. While the prize was just as sweet as back home the chase had been incredibly lackluster. The people of this world had no way to protect against his thieving ways. Sure, they had used magic and spells to lock their goods after a few nights of burglaries, but Garret had found even those easy to get around thanks to the Primal powers bestowed upon him and his contacts. He was growing bored in Meia. For all their greed and selfishness they were surprisingly inept at keeping their valuables. Silently, Garrett slipped into an inn at the edge of Snowholme where he was to meet his contact. Sitting behind the bar in ragged clothing a heavy set man tried to clean a speck of dirt from a glass with an even dirtier rag. "Caldo, I'm pretty sure you're just making it worse. You'd be better off using your using your shirt." The man looked up at Garrett and greeted him with a crooked smile. "Ah, but if my glasses were actually clean then I might get some real customers and then they'd interfere with my real business." Caldo was one of the few people in Snoweholme willing to strike back at Meia. He'd set up his own little network of thieves and rumormongers and regularly lifted valuables from the neighboring town. Once the pieces were brought back to him he sold them back to some sap in Meia only for them to take the wrap. It was a lucrative business with no competition besides the villagers of Meia. Garrett handed over the necklace and Caldo gave it a quick once over. He pulled a bag of gil from behind a half empty bottle of rum and placed it on the counter. "Last bit of work I'm gonna have for you in a while, sorry. Meians are getting smart to me. I'm gonna shut down for awhile and whether the storm." Garret frowned. Caldo was the closest thing to a friend that he was willing to maintain. While there relationship was strictly working he found the man's company soothing. "Any idea where I can go and get some more work? I'd hate to keep working in your territory without your permission." They both knew Garrett would keep stealing from Meia with or without it. He'd only asked as a professional courtesy. "Word on the street is there are more strangers like you popping up. Lot of them are setting out and exploring the mist regions. Hear that some are coming back with some pretty big scores. I know it's not what you usually do, but gil is gil, yeah?" Garret had to agree with him on that point. He preferred to stick to one location, but the notion of pulling in a "big score" was tantalizing. "... How big we talking?" Caldo grinned his yellow smile, pushing Garrett's gil towards him. "Garrett, my friend, big enough that even a greedy bastard like you'd be ready to retire." Other ACCEPTED Characters ------ Played by Vyril template by Razz of KHR |
