Mau
Mau are rodent like people in the world of Oephus. They also come in two types Tei and Lao.
TEI TRIBE
The Tei tribe consists of mostly humanoid part rodent people. The types of rodent variants are as follows mouse, rat, hamster, squirrel and chipmunk. The Tei tribe tend to see themselves as better than the Lao as they're much taller (for the most part) and won't waste any opportunity to poke fun at their cousins for it. The Tei tribe like their cousins excel in cooking having a natural talent for it, their females are also very loving mothers. The Tei's family lives are often very close nit and they try not to stray too far from their birth place until they hit their mid-twenties.
Once they hit their mid-twenties to early thirties they will stray far from their families and try to make life on their own. It's due to this that you can find Tei Tribe Mau in many places especially smaller not so loud places such as villages and small towns. It's here that they'll excel for they make good shop keepers, are very diligent in house work and can usually do well with things that require speed. Even if they're taller than the Lao they still never exceed 5'3 even their tallest males are only around five feet making them rather short.
If Tei end up in the city you'll usually see them as butlers, maids, waitresses or anything of that nature. If you see them with an adventuring party they're usually the one that's there to cook for the group and to generally keep morale up. Most of the Tei are very cheerful and carefree but there are those who are very serious in nature. The Tei are very poor magic casters and aren't exactly physically strong but they are extremely quick on their feet which makes them good with speed based fighting styles and terrible with magic or strength based fighting styles. Sadly the Tei only live to around 60 years of age, the oldest Tei to date has been 80 years of age.
LAO TRIBE
The Lao tribe are extremely short only standing at 4'5 at the tallest making them the shortest race in the world of Oephus. The Lao are much more beast like than their Tei counterparts, they are furry and have barely any human features at all save for walking upright on two legs and wearing clothes. The biggest difference however between the Tei and Lao personality wise is that the Lao are much more intelligent than their human like cousins. They tend to be good scholars and have a wealth of knowledge. They're also more serious than the Tei and are much more mature most of the time.
The Lao tend to make good mechanics, scholars or anything that requires a lot of mental capacity, it is because of this that they also excel in attack magic. The Lao however only tend to dwell in forests or very quiet areas, it's rare to see many running around in the cities unless they're there for a specific reason or are with a trusted friend. They spend most of their time around the Laaz Basin in a tall library off the edge of the lake. It is said that around 50% of Oephus' information on dark magic can be found here. The peace of the Laaz Basin allows the Lao to study without being disturbed and that's why they picked here to settle. The Lao tend to favor knowledge over brawn but they aren't stupid enough to forsake that sometimes brawn is needed to solve a situation. They live for around 70 years which is a little longer than their cousins, the oldest Lao to date has been 90 years of age.
FCs for this race can be difficult to find, because of this we allow fully human looking FCs however, we will require that you state that they have whatever ears match their race and a tail in the Notable Features part of the app.
You can find that Mau have hermaphrodites and in very rare cases there are those with both sets of genitals that work, the Mau are another race that don't really mind too much as a whole so long as one set of genitals works and they're not sterile.
